Getting Fierce

Have no idea who this person is but really loved this quote:
“You need only claim the events of your life to make yourself yours. When you truly possess all you have been and done, which may take some time, you are fierce with reality.” Florida Scott Maxwell

Going Potty

This YouTube clip of Paul Potts is doing the rounds and there is something just irresistible about it. So amazing to see this man, clearly quaking inside, open his mouth and just the most gorgeous sound come out. He’s such an ordinary looking bloke in an ordinary job (car phone salesman) with no confidence but some faith that he has something beautiful inside. I think there is a little of Paul Potts in all of us. Watch and weep!

The Vote
Posted on June 14, 2007
I heard on the news that a recent poll revealed that Australian women would rather go shopping than vote in an election but - get this - the majority would rather vote than have sex! I thought that was a hoot! How did they even come to ask them such a weird question? Anyway, if it’s true, it doesn’t say much for the performance of Australian men.
On Being Blessed

Queen’s Birthday Monday was a landmark day in my life - met and blessed by the man himself; His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It came about as a result of almost a year of work with my friend Inge to put an event in Geelong together for the Drol Kar temple.
An amazing day with about 4,500 people attending to hear what the Dalai Lama had to say and just to be in his presence.
I’m not easily star-struck but there is something very special about him; so full of energy and love and compassion and his face so familiar it’s uncanny. All I can say is that he is one very lovable guy and I actually feel blessed.
Princess in a Tower

What is it about Paris Hilton that makes people - around the globe! - love to tutt and jeer and sneer. In some ways she represents what the whole of Western society seems to be aspiring to; fabulous wealth without ever having to work or be accountable for her actions. Sort of empty life surely?
Everyone has something to say about her light sentence for drink driving and her early release on the grounds of a rash (and when will we actually see said rash on youtube I wonder) and we’re revelling in her fragile mental state after a few days in the celebrity wing of the prison - so she couldn’t cut it hey?
Now she’s confined to home. I haven’t actually seen Chez Hilton but I’m sure most of us would be prepared to pay good money to be incarcerated there for a month or two. But I do feel really sorry for her. I reckon I could probably cope with prison, if I had to, but there is no way I’ll deal well with the whole world thinking I’m just a bad joke.
