Book Launch

After weeks of planning the launch of my new novel ‘Two for the Road’ finally came together with about 100 family and friends gathering for a great night of celebration at a tow truck yard. As a struggling author financing the event (contrary to popular belief publishers do not bankroll extravagant launches for anyone but the BIG authors) I had to be resourceful and as always am amazed at the generosity of my fellow human beans. De Bortoli sponsored the wine - which was brilliant! I approached the event management faculty at ICMS and asked for student volunteers and got a bumper crop. Here they all are in their ‘towie’ vests - their own idea, which was fabulous. They did a great job and we had a wonderful night all round. The book actually hits the bookshops on April 7th and I’m here, there and everywhere doing signings etc - details of which are on my Facebook page.

Working Up a Sweat

Coming up to the release of the new book ‘Two for the Road’ on April 7th there is an amazing amount of behind the scenes work building the scaffolding and as of today my new site - which has been given a massive overhaul by my dear friend Khim Stone - is up and running. Check it out. | Link

Facebook

Being the techno-queen that I am (or aspire to be) I have embraced the medium of Facebook. I am reliably informed by my 14 year old that MySpace is for the young and Facebook for the young at heart - so here’s the link. Check it out, dude!  | Link

The Big Day

Went to my post office box today and to my great surprise there was the first copy of my new yet to be released BOOK! It’s a very exciting moment opening the package and I savoured it quietly sitting in the car. The cover, which I initially had reservations about, looks truly excellent particularly with the author name in a dark red foil against the cloudy background. The weight of it is really nice, it’s the large format and sort of floppy and soft. I opened it and started reading it and, by jove, it was GOOD! Even if I do say so myself. After the launch of my last novel I went to bed and during the night had the sensation of people reading my words, all different scenes in the book coming up in my dreams. It was so strange, a bit like having a creative caesarian. Anyway it’s thrilling to know that people will soon be experiencing - and hopefully - enjoying the fruits of my labour. (bad pun)
